As Jesus went to the Cross He took all our sins upon Himself. He willingly accepted our punishment, despite the fact He was sinless and innocent. The price He paid by doing so bought us salvation – a salvation that frees us from the eternal punishment we truly deserve. When we give our lives to Christ, we accept this salvation through His mercy and grace (there is nothing we can do to earn it) we are forgiven and made perfect in God’s eyes.
