When he gives the command to restore Jerusalem in Nehemiah 2:1-2, King Artaxerxes has no idea of the chain of events he just set into motion. While it would be easy for us to also overlook this decree as a mere footnote in history, when we dig deeper we see how it ushered in the coming of Jesus Christ and even still affects us today as we await the end of the Church Age.
