Through the Bible (1 Peter 2)

1 Peter 2
Tonight we looked at 1 Peter 2 and the calling that we have because of our salvation (seen at the end of 1 Peter 1) to put away the evil works of deceitfulness, hypocrisy and slander and to desire the Word of God like newborn infants. We then studied Peter’s rich unpacking of God’s work in building us together as a spiritual house, as holy priests to offer spiritual sacrifices to Him. We ended being reminded Jesus is the Shepherd and Overseer of our souls, and God declares His authority over the human mind and emotions and desires to exercise His gracious rule over them.
Brett is our senior pastor. He and his family moved to Portland in 1996 to start Athey Creek Christian Fellowship. As our church has grown, Brett’s main focus has remained the same: pointing people to Jesus by teaching through God’s Word, verse-by-verse, book-by-book and chapter-by-chapter. Brett and his wife, Debbie, have three children: Brooke, Joey and Casey.
