Weekend Worship Services
Study
Our Saturday night and Sunday morning services are identical to one another. Like much of what we do at Athey, they are simple and casual. Acts 2:42 offers a clear description of what the early church was like. It is our desire to follow this model as closely as possible. Since we study through the Bible book-by-book on Wednesday nights, the Saturday and Sunday teachings usually highlight a particular verse or section from the upcoming midweek study.
Worship
In John 4:23, Jesus says that the Father seeks those who will worship Him ‘in spirit and in truth.’ With this in mind, we endeavor to worship expressively and sincerely, oftentimes using lyrics taken directly from passages of Scripture. The Word also directs that “all things be done decently, and in order” (I Corinthians 14:40). We want to make these weekend services a time where you can feel comfortable bringing friends and family who may not know the Lord.
Children
While the adults are studying through the Word, our kids are being taught as well. We invite you take advantage of our children’s ministry program. We have found that the kids have more fun in their classes, learning about Jesus and playing with other kids, than sitting through the service. This way, parents are able to take in the Word without distraction and kids are able to learn in an age-appropriate environment. On Saturday nights and Sunday mornings we provide childcare during all of our services for infants through grade school.
Special Needs
At Athey Creek Christian Fellowship we would like to give all children the opportunity to learn about the Bible and experience the love of Jesus through activities designed specifically for them. All children with special needs are invited to join us in the “Special Needs” class during the 11am service. This Sunday school classroom will provide a fun and safe environment for children to learn about Jesus, allowing parents to enjoy the service knowing that their kids are being cared for in a loving way. If you have any questions about this class, please email Meghann at specialneeds@atheycreek.com.
Teacher information: Meghann Rollinger is a former Learning Specialist at Byrom Elementary School in Tualatin. She has a Master’s Degree in Special Education and works with K-5 students who have a variety of needs on a daily basis. More importantly, Meghann’s desire to serve and educate students with special needs lies within her close relationship with an older brother with Down Syndrome.
Midweek Through-the-Bible Study
Wednesday nights are a time to grow in knowledge and understanding of the Word. We dig in with a verse-by-verse, chapter-by-chapter study of the Bible. Bring your Bible, a notebook and a heart ready to hear from the Lord.
During this time, we have classes for our children, from infants through fifth grade. Our Junior High group meets for time in the Word, worship and loads of fun! For information on other studies, such as the High School group, or our College group, please refer to our ministries page.
