As we continue our study through 2 Peter, recall the importance of searching the Scriptures for truth. It is not about what man says, but rather what the Lord says in His Word, the Bible. In this way, we learn to recognize and stay clear of deceiving doctrines, heresies. Focus on the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, running as far away from the line of worldliness, unto a steady walk with Jesus.
As we continued to study through Hebrews 11 and the Hall of Faith, Pastor Brett talked about the importance of family in the life of faith. We saw that Noah was commended for preparing a safe place for his family and also saw through the examples of Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Jacob and Joseph how God’s blessings flowed through the families of broken people that trusted God. Finally we saw that Isaac and Jacob were commended by the Lord for blessing their children and that Joseph had faith that God would deliver his people from Egypt.
Revelation 8 taught us that the seventh seal consisted of seven angels with seven trumpets. We covered the first four last week, but then things change gears. While the first four trumpets dealt with earthly, cataclysmic events, tonight we look at the fifth, which is more demonic in nature as evil is unleashed on the earth.
This final teaching in a series from Matthew 24 examines verses 36-39 which compare the days we are living in to the days of Noah. We are warned by the example of those who perished from the earth when God brought the Great Flood and encouraged to live in light of the imminence of His coming.
