Last week we studied the role of the elder in the church. In the latter half of 1 Timothy 3, Paul discusses the role of a deacon. Pastor Brett shares how Paul’s words to Timothy are utilized at Athey Creek.

In 1 Timothy 4, Paul warns Timothy to look out for three things that could break up a church: demonism, relativism and legalism. Pastor Brett elaborates on these three things: how they are seen in our culture today and what Christians can do to combat them.

Tonight, we study 1 Timothy 3, where Paul takes a closer look at the importance of elders in the church, what the role of an elder should look like and the qualifications of an elder. Pastor Brett talks about how the elders at Athey Creek are appointed and what the Bible says about this process.

Tonight, we continue our study through the book of Colossians. Paul again warns the church at Colosse about legalism, intellectualism and mysticism. We learn how humanity continues in the same idolatry today.

In Ephesians 5:1-19, we see three key points about our walk as Christians: we are to walk in love, as children of light and in wisdom. Tonight, Pastor Brett talks about how we are to go about doing so.

In 1 Corinthians 8, Paul gives us an answer to how we as Christians know what we should and should not do. Today, Pastor Brett talks about the four questions we need to ask ourselves to know what is right and wrong according to the Word of God.

Among christians, there are plenty of conduct issues that are debatable. And boy are they debated! Tonight, we take a good look at what God’s Word has to say about our motives and what drives our decisions regarding these issues. We will also be challenged with what our posture should be toward fellow believers when it comes to these same topics.

In Romans 13:11-14, the apostle Paul tells us to wake up, to put on the armor of God, to walk honestly and to put on Jesus Christ. Pastor Brett talks about this in detail, touching on alcoholism, fornication and immorality. He also discusses the importance of being a “put on”, and sharing the love of the Lord wherever we go.

As the Lord describes the sinfulness of Israel in Hosea 4, we can see the same sins in America today.

Daniel 5 describes the fall of the city of Babylon during Belshazzar’s command. Through this story we can learn many lessons about drinking, obeying the Word and more.
